ARTIST STATEMENT
I paint because I am never completely sure where I stand. Displacement is not only a subject in my work; it is the condition from which I experience the world.
My ongoing series, Kavanayén, explores a lost home and the body as a territory. Human figures move through psychological landscapes shaped by distance, vulnerability, and the desire to belong. Houses, windows, rivers, palms, animals, and chinchorros appear as recurring symbols of shelter and connection.
Through painting and found objects, I construct an intimate and evolving world where landscape is no longer simply a place. It becomes something carried within the body. The objects I collect and transform extend this world into physical space, turning discarded materials into fragments of memory, survival, and renewal.
My work does not attempt to resolve displacement. It remains inside its uncertainty, searching for the moments when a body, a relationship, or an object can become home.
