ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is rooted in the quiet wonder of everyday life.
As a contemporary Filipino artist, I create whimsical paintings of animals and, at times, human figures, using them to explore themes of joy, nostalgia, imagination, comfort, and connection. I am particularly drawn to the emotional world of animals, whose expressions and gestures can communicate feelings that words sometimes cannot.
My paintings often place soulful animals in gentle, storybook-like settings, where ordinary moments become little stories. Through expressive characters, warm light, and painterly textures, I create spaces that invite the viewer to pause, feel, and perhaps remember something of their own.
My love for animals, especially rescued pets, has deeply influenced my practice. They remind me of the simple ways love can be found in companionship, trust, and everyday moments. I translate these observations into paintings that are playful on the surface yet quietly emotional underneath.
Coming from a background in accountancy and discovering art later in life, my artistic journey has been an unexpected crossing between two very different worlds. This contrast has shaped the way I see creativity, not as something separate from life, but as a way of making sense of it.
Through my art, I hope to create small moments of wonder: paintings that make people smile, feel comforted, or see the familiar in a slightly more magical way.
