Miroslav Stevanović

I am a Serbian academic painter, born in 1977 in Kladovo, and a graduate of the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. My practice is centered on the act of painting itself — exploring the interplay of space, structure, and color through layered compositions. I work across various techniques, constantly searching for new ways to translate everyday moments and my immediate surroundings into painted visual narratives.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My painting practice explores the relationship between space, memory, and belonging through the language of color, structure, and atmosphere. Drawing from urban landscapes, architectural forms, and everyday observations, I transform familiar environments into layered visual narratives that move between reality and imagination. My recent cycle, Nest, examines the idea of origin and return, treating shelter not only as a physical place but also as a psychological state. Through layered compositions and the dialogue between figurative and abstract elements, I create spaces that invite contemplation and personal interpretation. Rather than offering fixed meanings, my work seeks to open a quiet field of reflection where questions of identity, connection, and light can emerge.
