ARTIST · GLASGOW

Rakasree Basu is an India-born film, television, and documentary producer and a multidisciplinary artist and curator based in Glasgow. Her paintings do not begin with subjects she wants to reproduce. They begin with an inner feeling—specific to a particular time, place, and emotional moment. Colour, pattern, texture and form emerge from that feeling, making each painting an emotional record: a trace of what she was carrying, remembering, questioning or becoming.
